Watch Carlos Santana Documentary Trailer

Carlos Santana has released an official trailer for the upcoming documentary, Carlos: The Santana Journey Global Premiere, which features his life and journey as a legendary guitarist.

Directed by Rudy Valdez, the documentary features new interviews with Santana, his family, and other acts from the music industry such as Clive Davis, Rob Thomas and more. It also includes never-before-seen archival footage and home videos recorded by the icon himself.

In the trailer, Santana can be heard saying:

“Do you believe in magic?
“They said, ‘Hey, we want to take you to this place, it’s called The Fillmore. Nothing better.’ Bill Graham came to me and says ‘You’re going to open up for The Who, Steve Miller and Howlin’ Wolf.’
“Magic is when you command the elements to capture people’s hearts.”

Premiere screenings will run on Sept. 23, Sept. 24, and Sept. 27 with exclusive introductory content from Santana and director Valdez. The theatrical release is set to take place on Sept. 29. Tickets are now available at carlosfilm.com.

In a previous interview, Santana noted that he had specific requirements for this film:

“I said, ‘I want to own my own movie; I don’t want to have to ask your permission, later on, to show my movie in some other kind of form.’
“‘And I want to have a say-so on the beginning, middle and end, how I’m being presented.’ And Imagine [Documentaries] came back, I guess they talked amongst themselves, and said, ‘OK, we decided we want to do this.’ I said, ‘OK, then. Let’s do it.’”
