Last Sunday, musicians Elvis Costello and Billy Gibbons did a very unexpected team-up at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl and performed ZZ Top tracks.

The performance of the two veteran musicians was made for the Musician Treatment Foundation, which “core mission is to fund free surgical and nonsurgical care for the shoulder, elbow and hand problems of under- and uninsured professional musicians.”

Powerhouse musicians including veteran session drummer Keith Carlock, jazz saxophonist Bill Evans, dobro maestro Jerry Douglas, and longtime Bob Dylan guitarist Charlie Sexton all joined them on stage.

In other news, Costello recently concluded his 10-night residency at New York City’s Gramercy Theatre where he played more than 200 songs from his catalog. He even made a joke near the end of the final show saying:

“We’ve run out of songs, I’ll have to write some more.”

Aside from that, the singer recently released The Songs of Bacharach & Costello, a four-disc collection of the rocker’s collaborations with the late composer Burt Bacharach.

ZZ Top, on the other hand, are also busy preparing for their upcoming tour. The band is set to kick off the trek by April and will last until the rest of the year.

Check out their performance below.
