Watch A Lost Footage Of Jim Morrison Before Going To Paris

This is a rare footage of The Doors frontman Jim Morrison just months before his death. Filmed in November 1970, it shows Morrison on a road trip and stopping over to grab a bite. It’s pretty haunting because it looks like he’s bone-tired and no longer in top form. 1970 was a difficult year for Morrison – he faced legal problems left and right & almost landed in jail had he not paid the $50,000 bond.

After working on the album L.A. Woman (it’s the final Doors album that featured Morrison), he told his bandmates he’d be flying to Paris where the legendary rocker joined girlfriend Pamela Courson at a rented apartment. Although in the video below he clearly gained weight, he lost most of it during his stay in Paris and he wrote to his friends that he frequently went on long walks alone in the city.

Sadly, he would never return to Los Angeles.

On July 3, 1971, he was found dead in the bathtub by Courson. His official cause of death was heart failure but since no autopsy was performed and with the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death, there have been several theories and speculations about what really happened that day.
