Sometimes being a dedicated fan can lead into an unexpected negative turn of events. Just this August 30, a working waitress at the Juma Opera Hotel in Manaus, Brazil got fired for taking a video of Axl Rose, according to Boletim Amazonia (translated via Google Translate).

Guns N’ Roses are currently on the road for their tour in South America. Their first show took place at the Arena de Amazonia in Manaus. On the video that the waitress took, it shows Rose standing on the balcony of the hotel and waving to the fans outside. The screams of the people looking at Rose can be heard in the background.

The rocker then walked back inside with escort security guards and his longtime manager Beta Lebeis. After the video circulated to social media, the Brazilian publication noted that the waitress was fired from her job. She was then approached by the press outside of the hotel, where she stated:

“I’m a big fan, I just wanted you to understand my feeling. I didn’t run to them, I didn’t make a fuss, I served them with great emotion. It’s the best band of all time, it’s our story and that’s for us, it’s not fair.”

The woman then showed a tattoo of the GN’R she has on her lower back, showing her admiration for the band. When the other fans outside the hotel learned about the firing, they began protesting and calling out for the management to forgive the waitress. A man said:

“A fan’s love cannot be punished.”

While some GN’R fans on Twitter reacted to the issue as well. Some of them reported that the hotel staff was specifically asked not to photograph the band members’ presence there, and that one of the consequences of doing so would be dismissal. But it’s unknown whether this has been confirmed by the hotel. One use tweeted, tagging Rose:

“Hello Axl, a woman was fired because she filmed you at the hotel in Manaus, I ask you to have compassion for her, I know I will never get close to you but seeing you up close for a video already makes fans happy.”

Meanwhile, GN’R will continue their trek throughout South America until mid-October.
