Linkin Park Frontman’s Suicide Confirmed By Bandmate
The rock world grieves today over news of the death of Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, found dead early this morning following an apparent suicide. TMZ first broke the news and despite the confusion as to whether rumors of Bennington’s death were just that – rumors – with every breaking news update and grief stricken social media update from bands who knew Bennington personally it became more and more apparent that this wasn’t just a cruel hoax. Chester was, in fact, gone – dead by his own hand, found early this morning in his Los Angeles home by an employee.
Ultimately, the tragedy became sickeningly real when Bennington’s bandmate and best friend Mike Shinoda took to Twitter to confirm the news in a single heartbroken tweet, promising a full statement from the surviving members of Linkin Park as soon as they were able:
Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.

Bennington’s career spanned 25 years in length, rising to fame with the 2000 release of Linkin Park’s critically acclaimed debut album, Hybrid Theory. He was slated to head back out on the road with Linkin Park next week in support of the band’s latest album One More Light and TMZ reports that Bennington, who returned from Arizona yesterday after spending time with his wife, had a photo shoot with Linkin Park scheduled for later today.
He’s survived by his wife and six children, his bandmates, friends around the world and a legion of devoted fans who are struggling with the painful new reality that is life without Chester Bennington.
