The Yardbirds Perform “For Your Love” Live In ’65, And Jeff Beck Is Unrecognizable | Society Of Rock Videos

Live On Shindig, 1965

What’s not to love about British Invasion classic ‘For Your Love’? Not only does it feature the talents of Eric Clapton – and later, Jeff Beck –  on guitar, but it was directly inspired by The Animals’ wildly successful ‘House Of The Rising Sun’ with its use of moody, dark, minor chord progressions and went on to become The Yardbirds’ biggest hit to date, thanks to songwriter Graham Gouldman. This 1965 performance features the band, sans Clapton, performing on Shindig before an absolutely insane crowd of teenagers, and it honestly doesn’t get any better than this!

Yardbirds singer Keith Reif is the definition of cool in his black suit and matching sunglasses, adding an air of mystery to the performance – he’s hands down one of the most underrated singers of the 1960s, and one of our favorite parts of The Yardbirds’ all-star lineup.

Fun Fact: Eric Clapton left The Yardbirds following the release of ‘For Your Love’ because he felt the band was becoming too “commercial”.

If we had to pick a song that defined the 60s, this would absolutely be it. With an all-star combination of some of the most talented musicians the world had to offer, mixed with the unique flavor brought in by this awesome British Invasion band, this performance is definitely going to take you way, way back!

+ For Your Love lyrics +

(For your love)
(For your love)
(For your love)
I’d give you everything and more and that’s for sure
(For your love)
I’d bring you diamond rings and things right to your door
(For your love)

To thrill you with delight, I’d bring you diamonds bright
Double takes I will excite, to make you dream of me at night
(For your love)
(For your love)
(For your love)

For your love, for your love
I would give the stars above
For your love, for your love
I would give you all I could

(For your love)
(For your love)
(For your love)
I’d give the moon if it were mine to give
(For your love)
I’d give the stars and the sun for I live
(For your love)

To thrill you with delight, I’d bring you diamonds bright
Double takes I will excite, to make you dream of me at night
(For your love)
(For your love)
(For your love)
