No Time Has Passed
Performing one of their greatest hits around the early to mid- 80’s, The Guess Who prove age is just a number with an unforgettable “No Time” set that solidifies the Canadian- based band’s genius once again. Written by lead singer Burton Cummings and guitarist Randy Bachman, the impatient tune displays the importance of moving on toward better and greater opportunities.
Interesting Fact: According to Randy Bachman, the guitar lick on this song is an inversion of what Stephen Stills played on the Buffalo Springfield track “Hung Upside Down.”
Two different versions of this song were actually recorded; the slower, more intimate tempo appears on the band’s Canned Wheat album, as the more well- known, fast- paced “No Time” version appears on the American Woman album in 1970. The more popular version reached #5 in the U.S. and #1 in Canada that same year.
As the song is titled “No Time” we can only assume that is functions as the perfect piece of evidence that “no time” has passed for the band members, especially Burton with these pristine vocals…
+ No Time Lyrics +
(No time left for you) On my way to better things
(No time left for you) I found myself some wings
(No time left for you) Distant roads are callin’ me
(No time left for you), da da da da da
No time for a summer friend
No time for the love you send
Seasons change and so did I
You need not wonder why
You need not wonder why
There’s no time left for you
No time left for you
(No time left for you) On my way to better things
(No time left for you) I found myself some wings
(No time left for you) Distant roads are callin’ me
(No time left for you), deh, deh, deh, deh, deh
No time for a gentle rain
No time for my watch and chain
No time for revolving doors
No time for the killin’ floor
No time for the killin’ floor
There’s no time left for you
No time left for you
No time for a summer friend
No time for the love you send
Seasons change and so did I
You need not wonder why
You need not wonder why
There’s no time left for you
No time left for you
No time, no time, no time, no time
No time, no time, no time, no time
I got, got, got, got no time
I got, got, got, got no time
I got, got, got, got no time
No-no-no, no-no-no, no time
No-no-no, no-no-no, no time
I got, got, got, got no time
No-no-no, no-no-no, no-no-no,
No-no-no, no-no-no, no-no-no, no time
I got no time, got no time, got no time, got no time, got no time
Got no time, got no time
