The Eagles’ “Already Gone” ’76 Performance Is You All You Need Today

The Eagles’ “Already Gone” ’76 Performance Is You All You Need Today | Society Of Rock Videos

I’m Already Gone…

Let the Eagles shower over you with iconic hit ” Already Gone” as you close your eyes and go through the greatest day of the week: Friday! What better way to celebrate the coming of the weekend than with a great, live performance of Frey at his finest in 1976!?

“The letter that you wrote me made me stop and wonder why, but I guess you felt like you had to set things right. Just remember this, my girl, when you look up in the sky, you can see the stars and still not see the light (that’s right)…”

As one of the very few songs not written by the Eagles members, “Already Gone” was written by songwriters Jack Tempchin and Robb Struddland, who also scribed the beautiful lyrics of “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” At the time the song was pitched the musicians, Glen was recovering from a breakup which bonded him closely to the words of the song.

Interesting Fact: Frey sang lead on this. The song features twin guitar solos by Frey and Don Felder, who was new to the band. The Eagles also used twin guitar solos on “Hotel California.”

As the Eagles serenade Houston with their country-esque, folk rock feel-good tune, you can tell that the song really resonates with Glen and watch him put himself into the meaning behind the song. Such a treat, we hope you enjoy it!

+ Already Gone Lyrics +

Well, I heard some people talkin’ just the other day
And they said you were gonna put me on a shelf
But let me tell you I got some news for you
And you’ll soon find out it’s true
And then you’ll have to eat your lunch all by yourself
‘Cause I’m already gone
And I’m feelin’ strong
I will sing this vict’ry song, woo, hoo, hoo, woo, hoo, hoo

The letter that you wrote me made me stop and wonder why
But I guess you felt like you had to set things right
Just remember this, my girl, when you look up in the sky
You can see the stars and still not see the light (that’s right)

And I’m already gone
And I’m feelin’ strong
I will sing this vict’ry song, woo, hoo,hoo,woo, hoo,hoo

Well I know it wasn’t you who held me down
Heaven knows it wasn’t you who set me free
So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains
And we never even know we have the key

But me, I’m already gone
And I’m feelin’ strong
I will sing this vict’ry song
‘Cause I’m already gone
Yes, I’m already gone
And I’m feelin’ strong
I will sing this vict’ry song
‘Cause I’m already gone
Yes, I’m already gone
Already gone
All right, nighty-night
