And It Made All The Difference In The World…

As of today, the Mötley Crüe biopic ‘The Dirt’ has officially been out on Netflix for one month. Now that we’ve all gotten a chance to see it, and in some cases many times, I think we can all agree that the movie is a winner. Unlike a movie like ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, this film focusses on the trials and tribulations of EACH member of the band, and truly tells the wild and tragic story of how Vince, Tommy, Nikki, and Mick all came together to form the world’s most notorious band.

The movie is chock-full of all things funny, surprising, shocking, sad, and awesome. What’s even more is that the actors portraying each member of the band did a truly stellar job. One such actor was Douglass Booth, who portrayed Nikki Sixx.

I’m pretty sure that this was one of the more complicated roles to pull off as there is such a unique story and depth to Sixx himself. Luckily, director Jeff Tremaine actually gave him some of the best advice he could ever give.

During a recent interview with IGN, Booth talked about meeting Sixx and went on to reveal that one helpful piece of advice. Here is what he had to say…

“I remember when I went to his house before we started shooting. I didn’t know who was going to open the door – because obviously I had read so much about him. I read The Dirt and I was nervous because he is such a notorious character. But then this really warm, inviting, kind man opened the door and made me feel so comfortable.”

“As soon as I left his house, the director said, ‘This is a very different person than who you’re going to be playing in this movie. You’re playing him back then.’ I had to be very much aware of how much he’s changed.”

I think that this advice really set Booth on the right trajectory to playing Sixx in the most authentic way possible. It probably goes without saying that Booth most likely did his upmost to research Sixx and the band the best he could in order to get a really in-depth understanding of the shoes he was trying to fill.

After you watch this performance, you’ll agree that this young man is definitely going to be a huge deal in Hollywood. It’s only a matter of time.
