Taylor Momsen of Pretty Reckless had an unexpected encounter while opening for AC/DC in Spain earlier this week. While performing their song “Witches Burn,” she noticed the audience trying to catch her attention and pointing, but she couldn’t immediately discern what they were trying to say.
As she turned and looked down, she was startled to find a bat clinging to her leg. “There is a fucking flying bat on my leg right now. Can someone help me, please?” she exclaimed into the microphone, as captured in fan-filmed footage. Adding a touch of humor to the bizarre situation, she remarked:
“I must really be a witch!”
The band’s crew quickly stepped in and managed to remove the bat from Momsen’s leg without harming it. However, the ordeal wasn’t over for Momsen who later shared video clips of herself receiving rabies shots at a hospital, along with photos showing the bite marks left by the bat.
Center for Disease Control warns that a bat active during the day or displaying unusual behavior possibly has rabies. They also recommend that anyone who comes into contact with a bat should seek medical attention immediately.
Momsen detailed the incident on social media, writing:
“So… ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT… in Seville Wednesday during ‘Witches Burn’ of all songs… a BAT flew onto me and clung to my leg… in the moment I was performing and had no idea until the incredible crowd kept screaming and pointing.”
She continued:
“He was cute, but yes he bit me… so rabies shots for the next two weeks. Thanks to all the staff at the hospital who dubbed me batgirl after seeing it on the local news that morning.”
Despite the scare, Momsen handled the situation with remarkable composure and humor, turning an unusual onstage moment into a memorable story for her fans.
