Stewart Copeland Reveals His Current Relationship With Sting

The Police drummer Stewart Copeland recently shared in an interview whether he still stays in touch with his former bandmate Sting.

Although the band seemed to enjoy their tremendous success during the late 70s, they surprised the world with an announcement that they will be parting ways in 1986 due to the tensions among band members. Later in 2007, they reunited and kicked off a massive successful reunion tour.

In a recent interview, Copeland was asked about his current relationship with Sting and Andy Summers. He stated that despite all the conflicts they had in the past, they keep the communication and connection alive. Since all of them are all aware of their mistakes in the band, they don’t go back to the same topics repeatedly and continue to move forward. Sometimes, they send each other memes from the internet or discuss their businesses. (tjc.org) He added:

“Absolutely. We send each other dumb memes from the internet. Causally, there is the business to discuss, an album release or rerelease, or whatever. So yes, we are in touch. We all understand why we fought, and we don’t need to go there. We are not birds of a feather, even though we shared so many life experiences together. Music has a different function and each of our lives. Not just what music to make, how to make it, but why to make it in the first place and what music is for.”
