Stevie Ray Vaughan And Buddy Guy Are Hilarious In “Champagne And Reefer” Performance

Stevie Ray Vaughan And Buddy Guy Are Hilarious In “Champagne And Reefer” Performance | Society Of Rock Videos

They Are Contagious!

We have never seen performers have more fun on stage than Stevie and Buddy Guy at Buddy’s Legends show in ’89. Playing silly, Muddy Water’s favorite “Champagne And Reefer” these two crack up the entire song just enjoying playing together and living life, doing what they love.

“Steve I’m gonna get me.. a mojo hand…I said I’m goin’ down to Louisiana, Stevie, you wanna go with me man…? I’ma look around and I’m gonna find me… a mojo hand.”

Originally Muddy’s song, “Champagne and Reefer” is about a man that desires the simple things in life– reefer when he wants to get high, champagne when he wants to get drunk and his woman when he is feeling lonely. That’s all and we’re not objecting to any of it! A man wants what a man wants, right?

Interesting Fact: A “Mojo” is a kind of magic charm, and the term shows up in a lot of Blues songs. In this song, the singer is heartbroken because his trusty Mojo doesn’t work on the girl he loves.

Doin’ what they do best, (the blues) SRV and Buddy are cracking us up in this video as they smile and goof around the majority of the song and have the time of their lives. Nothing makes us happier than seeing Stevie happy!
