Created by Mattel to commemorate Nicks’ 75th birthday, the doll quickly became a sensation, with pre-orders selling out within minutes of its announcement, reported Variety’s Anna Tingley.

Barbie designer Bill Greening expressed his excitement about this unique collaboration, stating,

“I love to pay tribute to legendary female musicians through our Barbie dolls.” Nicks, the first woman inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice, both as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998 and as a solo artist in 2019, was initially skeptical about the doll accurately capturing her essence. However, upon seeing the final design, she felt an emotional connection, saying, “When I look at her, I see my 27-year-old self.”

This Barbie joins an esteemed lineup of musical legends, including Tina Turner, Gloria Estefan, David Bowie, and Elvis Presley, who have been immortalized in doll form. Doll historian Bradley Justice views this as a brilliant crossover branding strategy.
