Black Sabbath is making history once again! The iconic metal band will reunite for a special one-night-only performance on July 5 in Birmingham, U.K. The show, titled Back to the Beginning, will bring together Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for the first time in 20 years—a moment fans have been dreaming of for decades.

But that’s not all. The concert will also feature some of the biggest names in rock and metal, including Metallica, Slayer, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, and many more. On top of that, Ozzy will perform a solo set to celebrate his legendary career. Given his recent health struggles, this will be his final performance, making the event even more emotional.

Sharon Osbourne Talks About the Reunion

Sharon Osbourne and Tony Iommi recently shared their thoughts on the upcoming event in an interview with BBC News. Sharon revealed how excited Ozzy is to reunite with his old bandmates.

“He’s doing great. He’s so excited about this, about being with the guys again and all his friends. It’s exciting for everyone… To see all of those icons on one day — usually you get to see them, but not together.”

Iommi agreed, adding:

“I’ve never seen anything like this, and certainly Birmingham hasn’t.”

Sharon also expressed how deeply personal this show is for Ozzy, calling it a chance for him to say goodbye properly. She explained:

“It’s really, ‘Hello, I love you and goodnight,’
“This is it… Ozzy didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to his friends, to his fans, and he feels there’s been no full stop. This is his full stop.”

Despite battling Parkinson’s disease, Sharon reassured fans that Ozzy’s voice is still in top form.

“He’s very happy to be coming back and very emotional about this. Parkinson’s is a progressive disease. It’s not something you can stabilize. It affects different parts of the body and it’s affected his legs. But his voice is as good as it’s ever been.”

Although Ozzy can no longer walk on his own, he still took the stage last year at his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, seated on a throne as he addressed the crowd.

A Star-Studded Tribute to Black Sabbath

In addition to the legendary bands already announced, the show will also feature a supergroup of rock and metal musicians paying tribute to Black Sabbath and Ozzy’s legacy. This powerhouse lineup will include members of Guns N’ Roses, Limp Bizkit, Disturbed, Smashing Pumpkins, and more.

Sharon described the lineup with excitement:

“It’s an endless amount of people. They’re going to be doing some Sabbath songs, some Ozzy songs, and they’ll all mix together. Different little groups will be coming on, but they’re all icons.”

What Black Sabbath Members Said

Since the announcement, Ozzy, Iommi, and Butler have all shared their emotions about the event. Ozzy made it clear that this show is a way of giving back to his hometown.

“It’s my time to go back to the beginning… time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed I am to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham forever.”

Iommi reflected on the band’s journey, writing on social media:

“It’s been an incredible journey, but it’s only fitting that it ends here, where it all began in Aston.”

Butler also spoke about the significance of the show in a video message to fans:

“Looking forward to seeing you all on July the 5th at Villa Park. It’ll be the first time Black Sabbath has played in Aston since we used to live there. And where we wrote most of our first album — places like Aston Community Center and Burlington Hall down High Street. So it’s a return home for us when it all started and it will be a very special occasion for us all. See you there.”

With so many rock legends coming together for this historic night, Back to the Beginning promises to be one of the most unforgettable concerts in heavy metal history!
