Bob Dylan has successfully offloaded his Scottish mansion, fetching a sum of $5.35 million. This transaction surpassed Dylan’s initial asking price when he listed the property in July by a noteworthy $1.4 million. The property’s appeal was understandably high, given its remarkable features.

Constructed between 1911 and 1915, the mansion boasts an impressive 16 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, four reception rooms, a billiards room, multiple kitchens, and a dedicated music room. Situated on an expansive 24-acre plot, the estate also includes a Victorian greenhouse, garden, fountain, and croquet lawn.

As for the timeline of Dylan’s ownership, he and his brother, David, acquired the property in 2006 for $2.5 million. An agent representing the estate revealed that Dylan used the mansion as a base, typically spending a few weeks there annually before the pandemic. During his absence, the property was reportedly available for rent, particularly for weddings and events.

Notably, the new owner of the mansion is Angus Dundee Distillers, a well-established Scotch whisky company dating back to 1950. Intriguingly, one of the brand’s distilleries is situated in Tomintoul, approximately 13 miles from Dylan’s former abode.

Bob Dylan’s affinity for the Scottish Highlands is evident, as underscored in his 1997 song “Highlands,” where he expresses his deep connection with the region. The lyrics include sentiments like, “Well my heart’s in The Highlands, gentle and fair / Honeysuckle blooming in the wildwood air / Bluebells blazing where the Aberdeen waters flow / Well my heart’s in The Highlands, I’m gonna go there when I feel good enough to go.”
