Sammy Hagar recently shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how he managed to power through the scorching heat during a concert in Arizona, part of his Best of All Worlds Tour—a tribute to his late bandmate Eddie Van Halen. Performing at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix, where the temperature soared to a blistering 114º, Hagar faced the challenge head-on with the help of his wife, Kari Karte.

In a video clip, Hagar showed how Karte supported him in dealing with the extreme conditions. The video begins with a coolbox labeled, “Cool down, Sammy, cool down,” followed by scenes of Karte helping Hagar cool off. She is seen applying ice packs to his legs and ensuring he stays hydrated by giving him water. As the band continued to play, Hagar took a moment to towel off his face, while Karte draped another towel over his back. She also helped him change shirts and tidied his hair, ensuring he was ready to get back on stage. After the quick cool-down routine, Hagar put on his shades and, before returning to the stage, remarked to the camera, “A hundred and fourteen fucking degrees.”

The video was captioned with appreciation for his wife’s support: “My faithful trainer working the backstage cool down… we still had a blast. What a great audience.” Despite the intense heat, Hagar’s energy remained high, and two days later, after another hot show in Dallas, he posted again, saying:

“Texas has a way of converting you within a couple hours… it was hot as the devil’s crotch tonight but as awesome as rock ’n’ roll gets.”

When Sammy Hagar Realized Alex Van Halen Wasn’t Coming Back

Hagar’s tribute tour to Eddie Van Halen has been an emotional journey, but drummer Alex Van Halen is missing from the lineup. Hagar has expressed his desire to have Alex involved in any capacity, saying:

“We reached out to him a dozen times… We made every offer to get together or to just talk or to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Go to the studio and play. Come to my house or I’ll come to your house. Go ride horses, go sit on the beach. What do you want to do? Let’s just do something. Let’s get together. And nothing.”

Hagar had hoped that Alex would eventually attend one of the shows, particularly in L.A., but that hope faded when Alex sold all of his equipment. Hagar said:

“That was his statement.
“That was like, ‘Nah, I ain’t coming nowhere.’”

The Best of All Worlds Tour, which will wrap up on Sept. 23, has six U.S. shows remaining, followed by a few dates in Japan. Despite the challenges, Hagar continues to honor Eddie Van Halen’s legacy, bringing fans along for a memorable and emotional ride.
