Heart fans might soon have something new to look forward to as the band is exploring the idea of an acoustic album. After a quiet period following the postponement of most of their 2024 tour due to singer Ann Wilson’s health issues, guitarist Nancy Wilson recently shared some insights in an interview.
“We’re actually in talks about an acoustic album, while we’re waiting to go back out on the tour,” Nancy revealed. She emphasized that this project would be a creative way to spend their time, adding, “Me and the band guys could put these acoustic Heart songs together in ways that are kind of an unexpected way of doing [and] hearing Heart songs, fresh again.” While no specific timeline was given, Nancy mentioned that the album “could finish that before we go back out on the road.”
The idea for an acoustic album gained traction after the band introduced an acoustic segment during their 2024 concerts before Ann’s health issues arose. This portion of the show, which included a mix of Heart classics and covers like Led Zeppelin’s “Goin’ to California,” resonated deeply with the audience. Nancy explained:
“We sat and we talked about the songs, a little storytelling… And the aspirational aspect of [the acoustic segment] was real obvious when you were watching the audience… in some cases, they were crying.”
If this acoustic project comes to life, it would be Heart’s first studio album since 2016’s Beautiful Broken. Nancy also hinted at the inclusion of new material on the album, mentioning a track called “A Million Goodbyes” that she’s particularly excited about, hoping it will make the final cut.
With the potential for new music and a fresh take on their classic hits, Heart’s next chapter promises to be an emotional and inspiring one for both the band and their fans.
