He wasn’t that big of a druggie after all…
In a radio interview with Howard Stern, Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters opened up about his time with Pink Floyd, and how drugs influenced him and the music the band made. Although many believe that every member of the band was addicted to drugs, Waters revealed that he himself was not that big of a drug user at all.
In the interview Waters details that he used to smoke cigarettes, and became addicted to the nicotine. Prior to quitting, he would take the nicotine, and mix it with hasheesh, and smoke the mixture in joints all day. But, that addiction only lasted as long as 5 years. Stern also asks Waters if he was ever a user of acid, to which Waters replies that he only did acid twice in his life.
The interview is incredibly interesting, and will open the eyes of people who think that Pink Floyd were just a bunch of druggies! It makes you appreciate Pink Floyd a lot more, because you realize that the genius behind their music didn’t derive solely from drugs, but their sober minds alone.
