Beloved Filmmaker Rob Reiner and His Wife Michele Found Dead in Los Angeles Home

Legendary director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were tragically discovered dead in their Los Angeles residence on Sunday afternoon, according to law enforcement sources.

Emergency crews were called to the Brentwood neighborhood shortly after 3:30 p.m. local time following reports from the property. When first responders entered the home, they found both Reiner, 78, and Michele, 68, with wounds consistent with a violent attack. Authorities are treating the case as an apparent homicide and have launched a full investigation.

The couple had lived in the upscale Brentwood area of Los Angeles and were well-known for their decades of creative work and community involvement. Reiner rose to fame in the 1970s with his Emmy-winning role on All in the Family and went on to become one of Hollywood’s most respected directors, with films such as This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, and A Few Good Men among his extensive credits. Michele Singer Reiner was also admired for her work in photography and her advocacy alongside her husband.

At this time, detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division are leading the inquiry. Officials have not yet released details about a suspect, and no arrests have been publicly announced. Police have been seen conducting interviews and gathering evidence at the scene.

Friends, colleagues, and public figures have begun expressing shock and sorrow following the news of the couple’s deaths, underscoring Reiner’s influence both as a creator and as a public voice on social issues over many years.

The Reiners are survived by their children, and authorities have appealed for privacy for the family as the investigation continues.
