Though The Beatles broke up in 1970, their music continues to touch millions of fans worldwide. Over the years, the band lost iconic members like John Lennon and George Harrison. Meanwhile, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr went on to have successful solo careers. McCartney, for example, released nearly 20 studio albums, with his latest, McCartney III, dropping in 2020. Recently, McCartney’s Got Back tour brought even more excitement, with Starr and Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood joining him on stage for special performances.

McCartney and Starr Reunite on Stage

On Thursday, fans filled the O2 Arena in London to see McCartney perform. The concert took the audience on a musical journey through McCartney’s impressive career. But during the encore, McCartney had a special surprise: he welcomed Starr to the stage! In true rock ‘n’ roll fashion, McCartney asked his old friend if he was ready to “rock,” and Starr, ever the professional, jumped right in. They treated the crowd to renditions of “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” (Reprise) and “Helter Skelter.”

A Fun Moment with Paul and Ringo

As the performance wrapped up, Starr addressed the crowd and McCartney with a warm message. “I’m off now but I’ve had a great night, love you all – especially this man.” McCartney, who celebrated his 82nd birthday in June, laughed and jokingly added, “It’s fantastic, playing with me old mate, but there comes a time when we’ve got to go home.”

The performance brought back fond memories for fans, many of whom shared their joy online. One person recalled their teenage years in the ’60s, saying, “Had an ear-to-ear grin on my face from beginning to end… this video took me back and touched into those indelible feelings of joy and meaning those Liverpool lads brought into our lives.” It’s clear that, even decades later, The Beatles’ magic still lives on.
