REO Speedwagon Announces Tour With Train

REO Speedwagon is hitting the road this summer, teaming up with Train for the first time. The Summer Road Trip 2024 kicks off on July 8 in Somerset, Wisconsin, and concludes on September 11 in Phoenix, Arizona. Artist presales start on January 31, with general on-sale beginning on February 2. Yacht Rock Revue is set to open all shows.

To mark the tour announcement, both bands will perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on January 31. They will also host an intimate concert at the Whisky in Hollywood, California, the following day.

In a recent Instagram post, REO Speedwagon’s vocalist Kevin Cronin expressed excitement about the upcoming tour, describing it as a “very special summer tour” and expressing enthusiasm about sharing the stage with Train.

Train, known for their pop and Top 40 hits like “Drops of Jupiter” and “Hey, Soul Sister,” also has a strong affinity for classic rock. Lead singer Pat Monahan is a self-professed REO fan, and the bands have shared their mutual admiration for each other. Monahan stated:

“This tour won’t just be a great time with great people, but a tour that will have a ton of familiar songs to most generations.”

Cronin mentioned the unexpected but welcome pairing with Train, noting that while they usually tour with bands like Styx or Journey, he appreciates Monahan’s talent as a singer and songwriter.

What to Expect?

The collaboration promises a unique experience for fans, with discussions about potential joint performances and song mash-ups. Both bands are enthusiastic about the idea and are working to make it a memorable part of the tour.

Leading up to the summer dates, REO Speedwagon will continue with performances of their Hi Infidelity album in Las Vegas. Cronin is also looking forward to shows with Rick Springfield and Cheap Trick.

Overall, fans can anticipate a summer tour filled with classic hits and the exciting collaboration between REO Speedwagon and Train.
