Queen – Somebody to Love

Queen – Somebody to Love | Society Of Rock Videos

Freddie shows passion, and improvises during an emotional performance in Montreal

My word! You can literally see a tear coming from his eye if you look closely… easily one of the top three performers of our time, and why Queen is considered one of the best live bands in the world.

Somebody to Love” was written written by the singer/pianist Freddie Mercury of the english rock band, Queen. It debuted on the band’s 1976 album A Day at the Races and was also featured on their compilation album Greatest Hits.

This man WILL find somebody to LOVE!

The lyrics reflect a man calling out to God, asking why he works and tries so hard, but can’t find love. As the song comes to and end, Freddie finds hope and decides he will not accept defeat.

This is widely reputed to have been Freddie Mercury’s favorite song he ever wrote. And, personally, I couldn’t agree more. The studio version was extremely polished, but on stage, as you can see- there was so much passion and love in this song. To call out and be vulnerable is stunning in it’s own right, but when someone shares something they are so pained about… well, it makes it that much more special.

+Somebody to Love lyrics below+

Can anybody find me somebody to love?
Each morning I get up I die a little
Can barely stand on my feet
Take a look in the mirror and cry
Lord what you’re doing to me
I have spent all my years in believing you
But I just can’t get no relief,
Lord!
Somebody, somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?
I work hard every day of my life
I work till I ache my bones
At the end I take home my hard earned pay all on my own –
I get down on my knees
And I start to pray
Till the tears run down from my eyes
Lord – somebody – somebody
Can anybody find me – somebody to love?

(He works hard)

Everyday – I try and I try and I try –
But everybody wants to put me down
They say I’m goin’ crazy
They say I got a lot of water in my brain
Got no common sense
I got nobody left to believe
Yeah – yeah yeah yeah

Oh Lord
Somebody – somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

Got no feel, I got no rhythm
I just keep losing my beat
I’m ok, I’m alright
Ain’t gonna face no defeat
I just gotta get out of this prison cell
Someday I’m gonna be free, Lord!

Find me somebody to love
Can anybody find me somebody to love?
