Player’s ’77 “Baby Come Back” Performance Is Something You Can’t Live Without

Player, English based and one of the greatest soft rock bands of all time, performs ’70’s  hit “Baby Come Back” and everything is right with the world again.

Written by founders of Player, Beckett and Crowley, “Baby Come Back” tells the story of a man needing the love of his loft woman as he realizes that he was the reason things went wrong. The lyrics in the song actually depicted what Beckett was going through at the time with an ex-girlfriend of 5 years, which really comes through in the vulnerability of the vocals.

Interesting Fact: After the demise of Player, Beckett joined Australia’s Little river Band, who included this on a live album. Beckett also wrote “Twist of Fate” for Olivia Newton-John and “After All This Time” for Kenny Rogers.

Not only did this band own the soft rock world, but even coined the term “yacht rock” with this incredible, feel-good tune that really makes you feel that you’re floating along the clouds. Not to mention everything in the song is what women wish men would have the courage to say….
