Pink Floyd Release ‘One-Off” Return With New Song | Society Of Rock Videos

Following the newly released song from Pink Floyd “Hey Hey Rise Up,” David Gilmour confirmed that the new material is just a “one-off” track from the band and doesn’t mean there will be more new music to follow.

Just this week, Pink Floyd has released their new original song in support of the people of Ukraine marking as the band’s first music material since 1994’s The Division Bell.

The band’s surviving members David Gilmour, Nick Mason, along with bassist Guy Pratt and keyboardist Nitin Sawhney, reunited to record this protest song against the Ukraine war, which also features the vocals of Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the Ukrainian band Boombox.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Gilmour said:

“I thought this could be something that we use our platform for, for enormous good.

“When I spoke to Nick [Mason], and he said he was willing to do it as Pink Floyd, it seemed like a no-brainer. We want to spread this message of peace, and we want to raise the morale of the people who are defending their homeland there in Ukraine.”

In nearly three decades of not playing together, Gilmour said it was “fantastic” to have worked with Mason again, sharing:

“Nick is like no other drummer. It’s a wonderful thing for us to be together playing a song that means something fantastic.”

Although, when asked about if there are more to be expected from Pink Floyd, he responded:

“This is a one-off for Pink Floyd. I’m casually working away all the time. I’m hoping to get an album finished at some point, but my focus at this very moment is just on this.”
