The sons of Phil Campbell have confirmed they will continue Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons following their father’s passing earlier this year, offering clarity to fans concerned about the group’s future. The announcement, shared via Facebook, strikes a balance between grief and determination, as the band prepares to honor Campbell’s legacy onstage.

“We originally had a number of live performances planned for 2026, and many of you have been wondering whether the band would continue without our dad,” the brothers wrote. “While everything is still extremely raw for us right now, we’re pleased to confirm that we will be going ahead with two very special shows.”

A Legacy Honored on Stage

The band has confirmed two upcoming performances that will double as memorial concerts. They are set to headline Chepstow Castle on August 22 and appear at the Hella Rock Festival on September 5, both dedicated to celebrating their father’s life and music.

“We’ll be headlining Chepstow Castle on August 22nd and Hella Rock Festival on September 5th,” they continued. “These shows will be dedicated as memorial concerts to celebrate the life of our dad, and it would mean a lot to us to see as many of you there as possible. We’ll also have more shows to announce very soon.”

These events are expected to serve not only as tributes but as communal moments for fans and fellow musicians to reflect on Campbell’s enduring influence.

A Pillar of Motörhead’s Sound

Campbell’s significance within Motörhead cannot be overstated. Joining the band in 1984, he remained a central figure until its dissolution in 2015 following the death of founder Lemmy. Over a 31-year tenure, he became the longest-serving member after Lemmy and, for the band’s final two decades, its sole guitarist.

His playing powered some of the genre’s most iconic records, helping define Motörhead’s unmistakable blend of speed, grit, and volume. Campbell’s consistency and raw energy on guitar made him a cornerstone of the band’s identity and a lasting influence on heavy music worldwide.

Continuing the Family Tradition

Formed in 2016, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons saw the guitarist performing alongside his sons, Tyla and Dane, turning the project into both a musical outlet and a family bond. Before Campbell’s passing in March 2026, the band had been scheduled for several high-profile festival appearances, including Hella Rock Festival.

Now, those appearances take on deeper meaning. The upcoming shows not only mark the continuation of the band but also represent a living tribute to Campbell’s life and career. As the metal community continues to mourn, his legacy endures—carried forward by the very musicians who knew him best.
