MUST SEE! Paul McCartney’s Illuminating Interview On Drugs

Macca Courts Controversy With LSD Use
There’s always a question of whether we should hold rockstars accountable for activities they engage in behind the scenes, and whether the media has the right to invade their privacy by lifting the veil for all to see. Paul McCartney, our favorite mild mannered Beatle made waves in 1967 when he admitted to using LSD “about four times” to a UK based magazine.
When he was interviewed a day after his 25th birthday, Paul addressed his previous experimentation with LSD with some choice words for the interviewer who implied that the backlash was Paul’s fault!
“…No, it’s you who’ve got the responsibility. You’ve got the responsibility not to spread this NOW. You know, I’m quite prepared to keep it as a very personal thing if you will too. If you’ll shut up about it, I will.” – Paul, after being told that he has the responsibility to not speak on controversial matters.
While Paul is obviously his usual calm and collected self, there’s definitely an angry undertone to his words. I see his perspective: he was made to choose between his integrity or his image, and when his integrity won out via the truth, what was already a no-win situation became impossible.
However, at what point do we hold rockstars responsible for the things that they say and do?
