A Musical Animal Act Like No Other
There’s a growing animal band in the works, featuring a Lab mix named Lulu on guitar, a Dachshund percussionist who uses a trash can, and even a horse named Yupia who strums guitar with his muzzle. Now, there’s a new performer joining this unusual crew—a singing parrot named Tico.
Tico is a double yellow-headed Amazon parrot who lives in Venice, Florida. He performs alongside his human, Frank Maglio. Together, they go by the name “Tico & The Man.” Tico sings lead, while Frank plays guitar. Their performances include classic hits like REO Speedwagon’s “Time for Me to Fly,” REM’s “Everybody Hurts” (with Michael Durso), The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun,” Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell,” and The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.”

Tico’s Unique Sound and Backstory
Tico doesn’t just sing—he has a strong stage presence. As the original article puts it, “To me, Tico sounds more than a little like musical comedy legend Ethel Merman—which is to say, Tico certainly commands a room when he belts out his freestyle vocalizations with style, grace, and wit!”
Frank met Tico at a moving sale a few years ago. Soon after bringing the parrot home, Frank discovered Tico’s natural talent for music. It turned out to be a lucky moment for both of them. Since then, they’ve been making music together regularly, sharing their performances online and entertaining fans of all ages.
Tico might be hard to recruit into that growing animal supergroup, but maybe he could join as a guest performer. Either way, his talent stands out. Keep going for the videos below:
