Our Favorite Dusty Hill Cameos In Movies and TV

Over the course of his career, bassist Dusty Hill also ventured outside of music. He may be best known for his work with ZZ Top, but he also dabbled in acting, hosting, and at one point, he even took on a job at the airport. To celebrate his legacy, here are his greatest cameos in films and TV:

1. WWE Raw

It’s no secret that Hill was a huge fan of wrestling. And so from 2009–2015, Hill often took hosting duties on Monday’s WWE Raw alongside guitarist Billy Gibbons. In 2005, Hill also showed up on WWE’s Unforgiven pay-per-view event.

2. Two and a Half Men

On season seven’s episode two of Two and a Half Men, Hill appeared on the show along with his bandmates. Charlie Parker tried easing his insomnia with marijuana, and when he got high, he saw all members of ZZ Top in his living room.

3. Deadwood

Hill and Gibbons appeared as townsmen in the series finale. However, unlike their other cameos, this one was rather brief.

4. Back to the Future Part III

They may not have been included in the credits, but ZZ Top appeared on this film as the party band at a town festival. They even reworked “Doubleback” into an acoustic version.

5. The Drew Carey Show

Its fourth season featured several famous rockers like Dave Mustaine, Slash, and many more. Hill auditioned for the fictional band, but he was told to get rid of his beard.

6. Mother Goose Rock ‘n’ Rhyme

ZZ Top appeared on this 1990 Disney Channel musical film. It featured other rock legends too like Little Richard. The Texas blues rock trio were the “Three men in a tub” from the nursery rhyme “Rub-a-Dub-Dub”.

7. King of the Hill

It’s perhaps one of his most iconic cameos. On season 11, he voiced Hank Hill’s cousin. Hank’s father, Cotton, gave his prized Cadillac to Dusty instead of Hank, which angered the latter. And of course, ZZ Top began playing pranks on Hank.
