Neil Diamond and Waylon Jennings – “One Good Love” Live

Neil Diamond and Waylon Jennings – “One Good Love” Live | Society Of Rock Videos

All You Really Need To Find Is One Good Love

It’s always a lovely treat when we see Neil Diamond collaborating with another musician especially because whoever he works with perfectly complements Neil’s music — just take Barbra Streisand for example. But with this particular song, it’s wonderfully refreshing as Neil does a duet with Waylon Jennings. While Neil is all about sweet feel-good melody, Waylon goes for edgy hardcore country.

Jennings’ music was characterized by his “powerful” singing voice, noted by his “rough-edged quality,” as well as his phrasing and texture. He was also recognized for his “spanky-twang” guitar style. To create his sound, he used a mixture of thumb and fingers during the rhythmic parts, while using picks for the lead runs. He combined hammer-on and pull-off riffs, with eventual upper-fret double stops and modulation effects.

Another amusing difference between the two would be their choice of clothing: Neil opts for his signature sparkling ensemble (in his early days) while Waylon chooses a black leather vest coupled with a black hat. On paper, they may not sound like the perfect duo to sing “One Good Love” but when they did, it was a revelation. It was a classic Neil Diamond track with Waylon Jennings’ edge. What else can I say? It was unforgettable in the most beautiful way! (brandxhuaraches.com)
