Prepare to be blown away by the ferocious sound of former Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars’ debut solo single, ‘Loyal To The Lie.’ This track, the first taste from his upcoming solo album, ‘The Other Side Of Mars,’ promises a sonic experience like no other.
Set to release on February 23 next year via Mars’ own label, 1313 LLC, this album marks a thrilling new chapter in Mars’ musical journey.
In describing the inspiration behind his solo venture, Mars shared,
“I wanted to do something that was just big and mean. People are going to hear my tone – my sound. I am what I am. Nobody else can do it. And like everyone, I’ve got a limited number of years. So, I’m gonna do all I can to do a lot of stuff. When it comes to my playing, there’s the Mötley side and the Mars side. Either way, I always have a very clear vision of what I want to do.”
What makes this album even more exciting is the lineup of incredibly talented musicians joining Mars on this musical odyssey. Collaborators include Winger and former Alice Cooper keyboardist Paul Taylor, vocalist Jacob Bunton, Korn drummer Ray Luzier, and bassist Chris Collier. Additionally, singer Brion Gamboa has contributed to two tracks, adding depth and diversity to the album’s sound.

Handling the production duties is the legendary Michael Wagener, known for engineering and mixing Mötley Crüe’s debut album ‘Too Fast For Love’ in 1981.
Mars praised Wagener’s understanding of his vision, stating,
“He had such an understanding of where I wanted to go with the material. And he never said ‘Hey, do this,’ or tried to change my mind or anything like that. He was just really adamant about recording what I wanted to record, and making sure we recorded it right.”
‘The Other Side Of Mars’ promises an eclectic musical journey, exploring uncharted territories and diverse genres.
Mars’s innovative approach shines through as the album features caustic modern metal, gothic-tinged soundscapes, anguished power ballads, and bluesy instrumental workouts. The album is a musical tapestry studded with slide guitars, violins, keyboards, glitchy freak-outs, and other sonic surprises.
When asked about the direction of the album, Mars expressed,
“There’s a lot of ideas that I have that, I don’t want to call them ‘left,’ but they are, you know what I mean? My feeling has always been, I might gain some fans, I might lose some fans. But what they’re hearing, it’s all me.”
With ‘Loyal To The Lie’ as the first glimpse into this musical expedition, fans can expect nothing short of brilliance from Mick Mars’ solo venture. So get ready to embark on a musical journey like never before when ‘The Other Side Of Mars’ drops on February 23. Mick Mars is back, and he’s bringing his unparalleled sound to a whole new level, promising an album that will resonate with music enthusiasts far and wide.
