Mick Mars made a prediction that he would pass away within eight years and expressed his wishes for what should be done with his body.

During an extensive interview with Rolling Stone, the guitarist of Motley Crue discussed various topics such as his retirement from touring, his ongoing legal battle with his bandmates, his highly anticipated solo album Another Side of Mars, and his nearly five-decade struggle with ankylosing spondylitis, a bone-fusing disease.

When speaking about his funeral arrangements, Mars expressed his desire to be cremated and placed in a lead urn. He added:

“I want them to take it into an airplane and drop it into the center of the Bermuda Triangle. I want people to be able to say, ‘Mick Mars is lost in the Bermuda Triangle.’”

Mars, who is currently 72 years old, justified his prediction of a shorter lifespan, stating that he didn’t envision himself living to be 85 or 90. He explained:

“My brain doesn’t want this ugly-ass body that’s all fucked up to keep going. I wish I could just take the information out of my brain, put it on a chip and into somebody else, or a robot. There’s still a lot of stuff going on up there.”

Also, Mars has confronted his mortality since his diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis at the age of 27. He said:

“I thought, ‘Cool, I know how I’m going to die now.’ But it isn’t AS that kills you.
“It causes something else to happen that kills you. It rarely goes into your hands or feet. That meant I could play guitar, and that’s what mattered most.”

Despite the ongoing conflict with his bandmates, Mars shared a piece of positive news—he recently sold his publishing rights, providing him with a sense of relief. He expressed:

“The deal was just finalized. Now I can relax and don’t have to worry about anything, since, like I said, I’m probably just going to live another seven or eight years.”

Motley Crue has hired John 5 as Mars’ replacement and has been collaborating with long-standing producer Bob Rock on new music, teasing their fans with hints. Their world tour alongside Def Leppard is still ongoing.
