Wet Dream, Richard Wright‘s debut solo album, is going to be released on July 28 by Rhino/Parlophone Records. This date would have marked the 80th birthday of the late Pink Floyd keyboard player.

The reissue will include new artwork, created by photographer Costas Spathis, based in Greece, where the album was written. Wright’s children, Gala and Jamie, who oversee the Richard Wright Estate, acquired the piece of art.

The album cover’s design is by Carl Glover, and the vinyl booklet will also feature the original artwork by Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell from the band Hipgnosis.

Additionally, the reissue will feature a new remix, courtesy of Steven Wilson. The news was first shared by the Pink Floyd Collectors Facebook group, announcing the exciting release of the remixed album on Rick’s 80th heavenly birthday.

It’s worth noting that both Wet Dream and Wright’s 1996 follow-up album, Broken China, have been unavailable in the UK for quite some time. However, Wet Dream saw re-releases in the United States and Canada in the 1990s, with moderate success, and again in 2008 in Australia after Wright’s passing.

Tragically, Wright passed away at the age of 65 from lung cancer at his London home on September 15, 2008. At the time of his death, he was reportedly working on new material for another solo album.
