Rockin’ To The Dawn!

“Living After Midnight” was written by Rob Halford, K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton. It was released on April 14, 1980 as part of Judas Priest’s sixth album “British Steel.” It received platinum certification status after selling over a million copies.

The song speaks to the hedonistic, rebellious spirit of the late 1970s and early 1980s, and is among the band’s most popular songs.

According to the lead vocalist Rob Halford, the idea for the song came to him when he was trying to sleep. Glenn Tipton’s playing woke him up and after checking the time, it was already “after midnight.” This song has also been covered several times and more recently by the band Disturbed for the “Tribute to British Steel.”

On live performances, the line, “I took the city ’bout one a.m.”, is sometimes changed to the particular city or venue the band is performing.

It’s a great heavy metal classic!
