Josh Freeze Post His 10 Possible Reasons For Being Fired From Foo Fighters

Josh Freese, the now ex-drummer for Foo Fighters, isn’t letting his recent departure from the band bring him down. He’s handling it with humor — and a killer Top 10 list.
Freese Reacts to Exit With Humor
Freese broke the news of his exit on Friday with a statement that caught fans by surprise. “No reason was given” for the band’s decision “to go in a different direction with their drummer,” he explained. Freese had been with the Foo Fighters for nearly two years, stepping in after the passing of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins.
The veteran drummer, known for his work with Guns N’ Roses, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, Devo, and more, added, “In my 40 years of drumming professionally, I’ve never been let go from a band, so while I’m not angry — just a bit shocked and disappointed. But as most of you know, I’ve always worked freelance and bounced between bands, so I’m fine.”
He ended his post with a teaser: “Stay tuned for my ‘Top 10 possible reasons Josh got booted from the Foo Fighters’ list.” And now, the list has arrived — with plenty of laughs.
Whistling, Cowbell Baths, and Too Much Poodle Love?
Freese’s list may not offer serious answers, but it does bring the funny. He jokes that maybe whistling “My Hero” nonstop for a week on tour wasn’t such a great idea. Or that his insistence on starting rehearsals with a 20-minute “cowbell sound bath” rubbed someone the wrong way. He even blamed Mercury being in retrograde for missing a session.
He also promised Noodles from The Offspring a spot as a fourth guitarist — to which Noodles replied on Instagram, “But you PROMISED!” And let’s not forget his self-professed “poodle obsession.” According to Freese, “my love for the breed was getting to be a bit much.”
Fellow Musicians Show Support
Freese’s post drew praise and support from fellow musicians. Former Foo Fighters drummer William Goldsmith commented, “Say what? Why, for playing everything not only perfectly but going above and beyond what most are remotely capable of? I apologize but respectfully this makes absolutely no sense to me.”
No word yet on what’s next for Freese, but with his talent and sense of humor, he’s clearly not going anywhere.
Here’s Josh Freese’s hilarious take on why he might’ve been shown the door — and no, it has nothing to do with his drumming skills:
