After suffering a nearly fatal brain aneurysm in 2015, Joni Mitchell is now set to play in her first full concert.

Although Mitchell hasn’t headlined a concert since a 2002 benefit show in Los Angeles, she had an abbreviated appearance at the MusiCares Person of the Year gala and at the Newport Folk Festival earlier this year. Now, her first complete concert is set to take place at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington on June 10 next year.

Mitchell’s friend and collaborator, Brandi Carlile, recently broke the news during an appearance Wednesday night on The Daily Show, and then an official announcement came in afterward. Carlile told the host Trevor Noah:

“She said, ‘I want to play again,’ Joni Mitchell is going to play. No one’s been able to buy a ticket to see Joni Mitchell play in 20 years.”

She added:

“She just started singing.

“We had rehearsed the songs ourselves, and we didn’t know whether we should stop or what we should do, you know – so we just sang with her.”

Carlile is set to perform on her own concert the night before joining Mitchell onstage in George, Washington as part of her Echoes Through the Canyon at the Gorge series. Watch Carlile’s full interview below.
