Following the announcement of her performance at the upcoming Grammy Awards, Joni Mitchell will also be performing a concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Oct. 19.
Dubbed Joni Mitchell and the Joni Jam, the show marks Mitchell’s second headlining performance in two decades. Tickets will be available starting with a presale on Jan. 31, followed by a regular sale on Feb. 2.
Joni Mitchell At The Grammy’s
This weekend, Joni Mitchell is all set to perform at the Grammy Awards, marking the first time in six decades. The Recording Academy confirmed the news, and Mitchell herself shared the excitement. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, February 4, and will feature performances from other artists like U2, Burna Boy, Billy Joel, Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo.
Mitchell has nine Grammy wins under her belt with her journey beginning in 1969 with the Best Folk Performance award for ‘Clouds.’ Her most recent victory was in 2022 for Joni Mitchell Archives – Vol. 1: The Early Years (1963–1967), named Best Historical Album.
In 2002, Mitchell received the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award. This year, she is nominated in the Best Folk Album category for Joni Mitchell at Newport, a live album capturing her surprise set at the legendary music festival in 2022. The performance featured a 13-song “JONI JAM” set, with Brandi Carlile joining on tracks like ‘Carey,’ ‘A Case Of You,’ and ‘Big Yellow Taxi.’
Mitchell’s Comeback
The singer suffered from a brain aneurysm in 2015 that forced her to re-learn to walk, talk and sing. But after the Newport appearance, Joni Mitchell returned to the spotlight with her first full headline set in over two decades at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington state in June 2023. With Carlile and a group of collaborators, including Marcus Mumford, Mitchell treated the audience to a 24-song set spanning her career and including a selection of covers.
