In anticipation of her upcoming documentary, Joan Baez I Am A Noise, Joan Baez sat down for an interview with CBS Sunday Morning. During the conversation, she candidly discussed her life and a significant past relationship with Bob Dylan.

When asked about how Dylan had broken her heart in the 1960s, Baez shared her feelings:

“It was probably the deepest I’ve ever felt for somebody. I think when somebody walks away from you, you feel a lot more than if you walk away from them. I got walked away from in a big way. (link) ”

After her romance with Dylan ended, Baez married David Harris, although they later divorced in 1973. Therefore, the singer provided the following justification for her single status in an interview she just gave:

“I don’t want to take on one more thing like trying to find the appropriate partner. It seems such an exhausting idea that I said, ‘I quit!’”

Joan Baez Finds Closure in Heartfelt Letter to Bob Dylan

In a separate interview with Variety earlier in 2023, Baez discussed how she found closure in her breakup with the singer of “Blowin’ In The Wind.” She described a moment when, while listening to Dylan’s music and creating his portrait in her art studio, she decided to send him a heartfelt letter:

“And that was it. I didn’t put a return address or an email or anything that was in any way trying to get something out of him; I just wanted him to know how much he meant to me. How much his music had meant to me. And I may never see him again, and that’s okay too.”

A Personal Journey Through Baez’s Life

In addition to Joan Baez’s personal interviews and reflections, the documentary Joan Baez I Am A Noise, set to be released on October 6, will offer viewers a unique glimpse into her life through a collection of personal artifacts.

This archive includes cherished home movies that capture poignant moments from her past, heartfelt letters that reveal her inner thoughts and emotions, and intricate drawings that provide an artistic window into her creative spirit.

These precious mementos offer a deeper understanding of the singer’s journey, adding layers of intimacy and authenticity to the documentary’s storytelling. Audiences can expect to be moved by the personal touch these artifacts bring to Joan Baez’s remarkable life story.
