Jake E. Lee, the legendary guitarist of Red Dragon Cartel and former Ozzy Osbourne band member, has spoken out for the first time after being shot multiple times while walking his dog in Las Vegas on October 15th. In a heartfelt social media post, Lee shared some details about the terrifying incident and expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans, friends, and fellow musicians.

Jake E. Lee’s Statement After the Shooting

Lee posted a message on Red Dragon Cartel’s social media, alongside a photo of his dog, Coco, who was with him at the time of the attack. Addressing the incident, he wrote, “I deeply appreciate all the concern and well wishes. Makes everything going on a little better.” He clarified that he was shot three times, adding:

“I was on my way back home from walking my dog Coco (I didn’t name him so don’t!).” Lee didn’t dive into too many details, saying, “I’m tired, but I feel relatively very lucky.”

The guitarist shared that the shooter fired 15 rounds at him, leaving Lee with serious injuries. “One bullet went through my forearm, one through my foot, and one in the back, which broke a rib and damaged a lung,” he explained. Despite the severity of his injuries, Lee’s sense of humor remained intact as he joked about his treatment: “Priority now is to keep draining my lung till it’s done crying. Then we can pull that tube out and concentrate on the more minor injuries.” He also reassured fans, saying, “And by the way, Coco’s fine and appreciates your inquiries!”

Chat with DJ Ashba

Before releasing his public statement, Lee exchanged messages with Sixx: A.M. guitarist DJ Ashba, who shared their conversation on Instagram. Despite the traumatic experience, Lee’s spirits remained high. In the chat, Lee humorously wrote, “Doing surprisingly well. I am one lucky motherfucker,” before joking with Ashba, “Just make sure your birthday bash is wheelchair accessible! Just jestin’!”

Jake E. Lee Was Pushing Through Pain to Get Back on Stage

Before the shooting, Lee had provided another health update during an appearance on the Tone-Talk podcast. He revealed he had been managing pain in his right hand, fearing it might be carpal tunnel syndrome. However, doctors found that the issue was a lack of cartilage in his hand, leading to bone-on-bone friction. “So, it’s all about pain management now,” Lee said, explaining that cortisone shots and physical therapy had allowed him to start playing guitar again.

Despite his challenges, Lee expressed excitement about getting back on tour, particularly finishing the dates in support of his Patina album. It seems nothing, not even gunfire or pain, can keep this rock legend down for long.
