Legendary Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant took home a staggering £7 million in dividends during the financial year ending March 31, 2024. According to newly filed accounts for two of his UK music publishing companies, Sons Of Einion and Trolcharm, Plant’s earnings reflect his enduring legacy as one of rock’s most iconic figures.

A Peek Into Robert Plant’s Financials

The accounts, published on December 17, reveal that Plant received £4 million from Sons Of Einion and another £3 million from Trolcharm. While these businesses had never issued dividends before, the payout this year underscores the steady revenue stream generated by Led Zeppelin’s album sales, streams, and Plant’s solo career. Although the filings don’t name Plant directly, both companies state the payments went to “the director.” Alongside Plant, his children—Logan, Jesse Lee (Jordan Plant), and Carmen Jones—also serve as directors.

Sons Of Einion, in particular, played a central role during the 2016 “Stairway to Heaven” copyright trial, where it was identified as a “pass-through entity” for Plant’s royalties from the 87 Led Zeppelin songs he co-wrote. During the trial, it was revealed that Plant received £2.1 million in royalties through Sons Of Einion from May 2012 to March 2013. Similarly, Trolcharm was mentioned in court documents, suggesting it also handles royalty payments tied to Led Zeppelin’s catalog.

Keeping Royalties Under Wraps

Led Zeppelin has always been notoriously secretive about royalty earnings. The band’s lawyers marked more than 1,100 pages of deposition transcripts from the 2016 trial as “confidential” or “highly confidential,” ensuring that details about their financial arrangements remained tightly sealed.

Even decades after the band’s heyday, these recent payments provide a unique window into the enormous wealth created by Led Zeppelin’s music. For Plant, it serves as just another reminder of the enduring influence of his work and the classic appeal of Led Zeppelin’s record.
