Hear The Sweet, Sweet Sound Of A Man Shredding His Guitar With A Teaspoon
Yep, You Read That Right
Okay, now I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it all. Coming to us from South Africa is guitarist Hannes Coetzee, affectionately known as “Spoonman,” for the unique way he approaches playing guitar; using a technique rarely seen, 71-year-old Hannes actually plays guitar with a teaspoon used as a slide, and instead of using his fingers to push the slide up and down the fretboard, he uses his teeth.
Fun Fact: Coetzee rose to fame in 2003 with the release of David Kramer’s documentary Karoo Kitaar Blues – a film celebrating the eccentric guitar styles of the Karoo, who live in remote villages and outposts of semi-desert areas in South Africa.
An amazing slide guitar player no matter how you slice it, Hannes’ unique take on guitar playing is a definite must see – and there’s no doubt that a few guitar players out there are about to start eyeing their silverware a little differently!
