Gibson Unveils Gene Simmons Signature Bass Guitar
Gibson, the well-known American musical instrument brand, is continuing its fruitful collaboration with Gene Simmons, the iconic rock star and co-founder of the legendary KISS band.
Together, they’ve unveiled the impressive Gene Simmons EB-0 Bass, a tribute to the instrument that Gene rocked on stage with KISS in the 1970s. This unique bass guitar is part of a limited run of just 100 units and can be found at authorized Gibson Custom Shop dealers worldwide and on Gibson’s official website.
If you were lucky enough to catch KISS during their high-energy live shows or TV appearances in the 1970s, you might recognize the bass that inspired this special signature model. Based on Gene’s extensively customized 1959 EB-0, the Gene Simmons EB-0 Bass represents a significant milestone as it’s the first bass guitar with a 30.5-inch scale from the Gibson Custom Shop. It also marks the shop’s first venture into producing bass guitars on a larger scale.
The Gene Simmons EB-0 Bass has been carefully crafted with an Ebony finish and vintage-style hardware throughout. Gene’s personal touches are evident in the customizations he made to his own EB-0, including a refined neck profile, an upgraded pickup closer to the bridge, a unique pickguard, a fingerboard with a Corian nut, stylish binding, and Grover tuners replacing the original ones.
Additionally, the bridge has been swapped for a high-mass model, allowing for different stringing options through the body or on top of the bridge. Every detail from Gene’s original modifications has been faithfully recreated in the new Gene Simmons EB-0 Bass from the Gibson Custom Shop.
To make this limited-edition bass even more appealing, each purchase includes a custom hardshell case and exclusive case accessories designed in collaboration with Gene Simmons himself. This bass guitar isn’t just a musical instrument; it’s a tribute to a rock legend’s enduring legacy and the craftsmanship of Gibson’s Custom Shop.
