Jimmy Buffett, the iconic singer celebrated for his sun-soaked tunes like “Margaritaville,” left us on September 1, 2023, at the age of 76. A statement shared on his official social media platforms conveyed that he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, music, and loyal canine companions.

At the core of Jimmy’s world was his enduring love story with Jane, his wife of 46 years, and the three children they shared. Let’s explore this remarkable family’s journey.

Jimmy & Jane: A Unique Love Story

Before finding lasting love with Jane, Jimmy was briefly married to Margie Washichek in 1969, but their union ended in 1972 without any children in tow.

It was in 1971 that Jimmy crossed paths with Jane, who was a student at the University of South Carolina on a Spring Break adventure in Key West. Six years later, their love story led to marriage, with the Eagles providing the soundtrack to their special day in Aspen, Colorado.

However, like any real-life romance, the Buffetts faced their share of challenges. After five years of marriage, they went their separate ways. Jane shared her struggles with TIME magazine, explaining that she needed to discover her identity outside of her relationship with Jimmy, and she embarked on a journey of sobriety.

Jimmy, too, felt the toll of his party-filled lifestyle, where hangovers started feeling like major surgeries. But fate had more in store for them, and they reunited in 1991, strengthening their bond.

The eldest of the Buffett children, Savannah, displayed her creative talents at an early age. At just eight years old, she co-authored two children’s books with her father and even lent her voice as one of his backup singers in his music video for “Jamaica Farewell.” Her adventurous spirit led her to obtain a passport before she could walk.

Savannah pursued her passions in California, attending Pitzer College and later trying her hand at a musical career in Los Angeles. Along the way, she acted as a “musical den mother” to fellow musicians and launched her own radio show, the Savannah Daydreamin’ Radio Hour. She also contributed to the 2006 family comedy film, “Hoot.”

Delaney, also known as Sarah “Delaney” Buffett, made her mark as a producer in the entertainment industry. She contributed to various web series and short films, including “City of Angles,” “My Astronaut,” “Buried Treasure,” and “Up the Stairs.” Delaney’s involvement extended to television, where she served as an executive producer for “Jimmy Buffett: Buried Treasure.”

Currently, Delaney is set to make her mark as a writer, director, and producer of the upcoming short film “Pal.”

While Cameron keeps a lower public profile compared to his sisters, he shares glimpses of his life, pets, and travels on his Instagram page. He is married to Lara and enjoys their adventures together. Tennis seems to be one of Cameron’s passions, and one of Jimmy’s last social media posts featured the father-son duo on a tennis court in Long Island, with Cameron serving as his “coach.”

As we remember Jimmy Buffett’s incredible musical legacy, our hearts go out to Jane, Savannah, Delaney, and Cameron as they navigate this difficult time following his passing. Their family will remain in our thoughts and prayers.
