Despite being known as “the quiet Beatle,” George Harrison made significant contributions to music with songs like “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” “Taxman,” and “Here Comes the Sun.” His impact on the Beatles earned him a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and was also inducted for his solo career in 2004. Now, his Washburn acoustic guitar, which he used to play “Here Comes the Sun,” is heading to auction following the record-breaking sale of John Lennon’s guitar for nearly $3 million.

While Lennon’s guitar fetched a staggering amount, Harrison’s guitar is expected to sell for around $100,000. The auction, hosted by gottahaverockandroll.com, will run until June 7. Given the guitar’s historical significance and connection to the Beatles, it is likely to incite a bidding war among collectors eager to own a piece of musical history.

Actor Jeff Daniels, known for iconic films like Dumb and Dumber, shares a memorable connection with Harrison. Their paths crossed during the production of the film Checking Out, produced by Harrison’s company, Handmade Films. Recalling his interaction with Harrison in 1988, Daniels described the awe felt by the crew when the legendary musician visited the set.

“A photographer captured a photo of George talking because he was the only one who could talk. I was in awe and unable to speak,” Daniels admitted. Seizing the moment, Daniels had brought his guitar and asked Harrison to sign it, which he graciously did. But the encounter didn’t end there; Harrison went on to play for the cast and crew for about 20 minutes.

Reflecting on the experience, Daniels said, “He knew he was giving us a gift that we would talk about forever. It was a very giving thing for him to do, and I never forgot that.” This rare interaction highlights Harrison’s generous spirit and the lasting impression he left on those who met him.
