Health Setback Halts Tour Plans

Dave Mason, former member of the band Traffic, has canceled all of his spring and summer 2025 tour dates. His team shared the news in a public statement released on Tuesday, June 3, saying it was due to “ongoing health concerns.”

Last year, Mason had already postponed his fall 2024 tour after doctors discovered a “serious heart condition” during a routine checkup. He went through a medical procedure and had hoped to return to performing in 2025.

Unexpected Illness Adds to Recovery

Unfortunately, Mason faced another health issue. According to the statement, “he came down with a severe infection in March, which he has been courageously battling ever since.” This new complication made it too difficult for him to continue with his touring schedule.

Fans who bought tickets for the upcoming shows will receive refunds automatically at the original point of sale.

Mason Speaks to Supporters

“With deep regret, I must cancel all tour dates for 2025 due to ongoing health issues stemming from the infection I had in March. I’m incredibly grateful to my team of doctors—this has been challenging territory, to say the least,” Mason said in a message shared on social media.

He continued, “A heartfelt thank you to all the fans, and to my family, band, agents, and the venues who’ve waited patiently and supported me throughout this journey. Your kind messages have lifted my spirits more than words can express. Recovery is a long road. My love for you all runs deep.”

His Legacy in Rock Music

Mason was added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 as one of the founding members of Traffic. He helped write and perform two of the group’s most famous songs: “Feelin’ Alright?” and “Hole in My Shoe.”

After Traffic ended, Mason became a respected session musician. He worked with George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, and Eric Clapton. In 1977, he had solo success with the hit “We Just Disagree.”
