Recalling how Bob Welch became an important member of the Fleetwood Mac, he was initially hired as a replacement for guitarist Jeremy Spencer. Eventually, he became the band’s second-great leader after founding guitarist Peter Green.

Although the Mac was going through a shift in their identity throughout its existence, Welch was the anchor and guide that kept the band from falling apart. Aside from that, there are these masterpieces which prove that he is a genius and that his role contributed to the overall success of the band and its legacy.

5. “Hypnotized”
Although they weren’t exactly a hit band during Welch’s tenure, this track actually gave people the Mac something they had been searching for: an identity.

4. “Emerald Eyes”
Welch was able to bring both sides of his songwriting personality in “Emerald Eyes.” This catchy album cut alternates between sinister guitar runs and heavenly vocal harmonies.

3. “Future Games”
Fleetwood Mac were in experimental mode on this song. They tried drifting away from their blues roots and towards a softer and more progressive sound. As a result, they created a more ambitious song ever performed by the Mac and established Welch as a creative juggernaut within the group.

2. “Bermuda Triangle”
This song practically invents yacht rock a few years prior to its mainstream explosion. Welch ruled out a tale of intrigue as the band pumps in a slick soft rock behind him. (Zolpidem)

1. “Sentimental Lady”
When the band is recording their 1972’s Bare Trees, Welch was only able to contribute two songs to that album. However, one of the compositions would become Welch’s signature song. It was also the first sign that Welch was about to take over Fleetwood Mac for the foreseeable future.
