After the tragic passing of C.J. Snare in April, FireHouse debuted their new lead singer, Nate Peck, in a live show. Peck, who had been performing with the band since 2023 due to Snare’s illness, officially became a member following Snare’s death. This significant moment was captured in a video posted by the Jim Powers YouTube channel, showcasing the band’s performance on June 7 at Hollywood Casino in Grantville, Pennsylvania.
Peck’s Journey on ‘American Idol’
Nate Peck first gained recognition as a golden ticket recipient on Season 21 of ‘American Idol.’ His audition left a lasting impression on judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie. Richie lauded Peck’s performance, stating, “That was brilliant… The best rock singer EVER that we’ve had. You’ve got it!” Perry echoed the sentiment, exclaiming, “Actually, he’s SO good!” Despite the unanimous approval, Peck decided to leave the show to pursue his music career independently. He has since become a fixture in Nashville’s rock scene and occasionally performs with artists like Jack Russell’s Great White.
Bill Leverty’s Praise for Nate Peck
Peck’s journey to joining FireHouse began through a connection with guitarist Bill Leverty, who discovered him via Robbie Lochner of Jack Russell’s Great White. Leverty recounted his first impression of Peck:
“When I first heard Nate’s vocal range, tone and control, I immediately knew that he’d be the perfect fit, filling in for CJ who was recovering from surgery. I advocated hard to get Nate out to play at New England Rockfest in October of 2023. He learned our songs very quickly and absolutely crushed it at the show. I then sent some video to CJ, and he agreed, saying, ‘THAT’S the guy’!”
Nate and C.J. developed a close friendship, and Peck has been performing with FireHouse since October 2023. Snare, who was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer in 2020, had hoped to rejoin FireHouse for their 2024 tour but sadly passed away unexpectedly. His bandmates have expressed their profound grief, remembering him as a vocal talent and a rock warrior.
