Fans of the rock group Firehouse were heartbroken to learn of CJ Snare’s passing. As the band’s primary vocalist and original member, many were taken aback to hear of Snare’s sudden passing at the age of 64.
In a heartfelt message shared on their Facebook page, Firehouse described Snare:
“It is with great sorrow we are letting the world know we have lost our brother: CJ Snare, the rock and roll warrior, lead vocalist, and a founding member of Firehouse. CJ Snare passed unexpectedly at home Friday night, April 5, 2024. He was a young 64 years old. … We are all in complete shock with CJ’s untimely passing.”
Snare has been fighting cancer for a few years, according to his partner Katherine Little. Snare was given a dire prognosis in 2020, but she never gave up and had life-saving surgery in 2021. But in 2023, he had another operation that left him weaker and unable to fully recover.
As one of the co-founders of Firehouse, Snare played a significant role in shaping the band’s identity. Alongside his bandmates, he helped create some of Firehouse’s most popular songs, including “Don’t Treat Me Bad,” “Love of a Lifetime,” and “When I Look Into Your Eyes.”
Despite his health struggles, Snare had been looking forward to returning to the stage for live performances. His absence will be deeply felt by fans and fellow musicians alike.
Tributes poured in from across the music industry, with Jack Blades of Night Ranger among those expressing their condolences. Blades remembered Snare fondly and praised his positive attitude and infectious smile.
CJ Snare left behind a legacy of rock music that will live on in Firehouse and the music community’s memories and affections. Snare will be sorely missed, but his music will never die, according to his fellow musicians.
