Fans Wants To Cancel Roger Waters’ Concerts

Recently, numerous Jewish organizations have joined forces into pushing German venues to halt Roger Waters‘ upcoming performances due to the claims that the former Pink Floyd member has antisemitic views.

These Jewish organizations urged other venues to follow Frankfurt City Council’s lead and cancel the concert that was supposed to happen on May 28th. Frankfurt City Council earlier in the week also made a statement calling Waters “one of the most far-reaching anti-Semites in the world” and announced that the concert at that venue will no longer proceed.

As part of his worldwide This is Not a Drill tour, Waters is scheduled to do five performances in Germany in May. However, there’s a huge possibility that it will no longer happen because German lawmakers and organizations are calling on their nation to take the initiative in blocking Waters from performing.

In line with this, Frankfurt already took one step forward. The Festhalle venue, where 3000 Jewish prisoners were imprisoned by Nazi forces in 1938, was one of the venues for Waters’ concert. Given the allegations against Waters and the historical association with antisemitism, his reservation for the place was denied.

Meanwhile, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency pointed out that the background to the cancellation is the persistent anti-Israel behavior of the former Pink Floyd frontman and considered him “one of the most widely spread antisemites in the world.” They added:

“He repeatedly called for a cultural boycott of Israel and drew comparisons to the apartheid regime in South Africa and put pressure on artists to cancel events in Israel.”

Waters has not yet commented on the calls to postpone all of his shows in Germany and has remained silent.

In some other news, Waters has also claimed that Russia was provoked into invading Ukraine. His recent comments made David Gilmour call out Waters. Gilmour said:

“Sadly, Roger Waters you are antisemitic to your rotten core. Also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching, misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac. Enough of your nonsense.”
