Fans Walk Out On Roger Waters’ Show – Tells Them To “F**k Off”
Roger Waters faced significant criticism after his recent performance at the London Palladium.
The event was promoted as a Dark Side of the Moon Redux show, but it got off to a rocky start when the former Pink Floyd bassist appeared on stage 15 minutes behind schedule. Instead of diving into the expected musical performance, Waters decided to read excerpts from his upcoming book, Dark Side of the Moon: Memoirs of a Lanky Prick.
As Waters continued reading for an extended period, the audience grew restless. Music critic Will Hodgkinson, who attended the show, even explained in The Times why fans became disinterested, noting:
“One story involved a duck that came to live in the family home. Another began promisingly as a memory of Floyd’s original leader, Syd Barrett, but revealed nothing more than that Barrett wrote a lot of songs and had an innocent air about him.”
The situation took a turn when Waters’ reading about his pets extended well past the 20-minute mark without any indication of a conclusion. Frustrated concertgoers began exiting the show in protest, expressing their dissatisfaction.
Roger Waters Tells Departing Audience Members to “F*ck Off”
In response to the departing audience members, Roger Waters was reported to have uttered a terse “f*ck off” before moving on to the planned musical portion of the performance once his reading session had wrapped up.
It’s important to note that Brain Damage, a Pink Floyd news source, clarified that the show was advertised as a two-part event from the beginning. The billing clearly outlined that the first half would feature the rocker’s reading, while the second half, lasting 50 minutes, would be dedicated to the actual musical performance, offering fans a unique and multi-dimensional experience.
