Alice in Chains co-founder, lead guitarist, and singer Jerry Cantrell has recently released an official music video for his song “Had To Know,” taken from his latest solo album, Brighten.

Directed by Jim Louvau, the clip was filmed during the rocker’s recent North American tour in support of his latest solo album. The video is a compilation of Cantrell’s memorable moments from many great nights on the road with Tyler Bates, Greg Puciato, Gil Sharone, Michael Rozon, Jason Achilles, Roger Manning Jr., and George Adrian.

Brighten sees Cantrell joined by several rock acts, including drummers Gil Sharone and Abe Laboriel, Jr. (Paul McCartney), pedal steel master Michael Rozon, Vincent Jones on piano, Wurlitzer, and organ, Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses, Loaded) on select bass tracks, Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape Plan) handling all of the background vocals and Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age) overseeing the mixing of the record.

The album features eight new original music and a cover of Elton John’s 1971 Madman Across The Water’s track, “Goodbye.”

Cantrell kicked off the Brighten tour on March 24 at the Palace Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota. He will be joining Alice in Chains co-headlining a US tour with Breaking Benjamin and guest Bush with shows starting in August.
